Trying out the field of Comedy

I have always been passionate about the field of comedy

I really think it is a skill to master and nothing else.

Since college, I used to try out by telling random ass jokes to my friends and they were so lame that my friends used to laugh at me instead of the joke.

I used to be made fun of but that didn't hamper my self-esteem or anything rather it helped me understand what would people find funny.

I used to go to the funny guys to get humiliated without any internal purpose rather subconsciously

I wasn't even aware of this pattern until now while writing this as it used to help me understand the psychology and the triggers that made people laugh.

Don't think of me as a fool but honestly, I started coming up with pretty good comebacks and responses and it was sort of a light-hearted entertainment session for us and everyone around.

So me being me I wanted to give this a shot in a serious way just like everything else I preach to complete.

I had this gut feeling of confidence and a little bit of affirmation from my peers that I am a little bit funny but just need some refining.

And that was enough.

Recently I went to this Event with a friend to record a lecture given by one of the top first-generation entrepreneurs in India

There's this one quote he said

💡
You do more in 1hr of doing vs 3months of thinking

And it hit me so hard that at that exact moment, I went on to search for the nearest laugh club on Paytm, book my show, etc.

And there was one which had an open mic every day and some more shows where budding comedians test out their new material and record their youtube videos.

Well I guess the path is laid and I am planning to go there soon

Just the hard part is writing and understanding how to get the jokes out.

But we'll figure that out too.

I important part is giving it a shot and just trying out everything until you find what you really like.

Anyway, here's a ted talk I will recommend which I saw a while back, which changed the way I looked at comedy, and hope to change yours too

I'll keep you guys posted as I get my jokes out
