How I Let the Universe Spontaneously Guide me to Feel Energetic on a Sunday Morning
There's something magical about Sunday mornings. It's a day to relax and rejuvenate before the new week begins. For me, my mornings usually start with a visit to the gym, but today was different. I decided to mix things up and let my instincts guide me on a spontaneous adventure.
I woke up at my usual time of 6:00 am, but instead of heading to the gym, I found myself scrolling through Instagram, trying to decide what to do with my day. Should I cycle to the nearby lake, go for a random walk, a Sunday morning run, or just sleep it off like I used to in my lazy days?
I kept scrolling for an hour or so until it hit me like a ton of bricks - I had to do something. I couldn't break my consistency of getting in a morning sweat. So I put on my shoes, got ready for the unknown, and just started walking to the nearest garden(rose garden), which was around 1.5 kilometers away.
As I walked, I passed a smart cycle stand, which got me thinking about doing a cycle tour. But as I checked my phone battery, it was at 4%, so I decided to leave it for another day. Instead, I thought of going to my under-the-tree barber shop, which was close by, and I decided to run there.
As I ran, I realized it had been a long time since I had gone for a run. I thought about stopping in between, but I kept going, admiring the city's beautiful scenery along the way.
I finally arrived at the barber shop, and as soon as the barber saw me, he greeted me with a warm smile. I told him how last week's haircut had been criticized a lot for looking like a bird's nest, and he apologized for his mistake. He offered me chai before the cut and made sure that I was satisfied with a better cut and a proper head massage. I paid him 100rs for an hour of skilled work and random talks on life.
After my haircut, I brainstormed my way to the underpass, which is a hub for creative arts and budding performers but is really an underground pass for connecting Sector 17 Plaza in Chandigarh to the Rose Garden. Along the way, I went to the public washroom and learned that the big washroom for disabled people is generally used by autorickshaw walas to bathe and perform their morning duties. It was an interesting observation.
When I reached the underpass, it was mostly empty, except for an old guy learning to skate. Seeing him reminded me to never stop learning, and age is just a number. I walked around aimlessly, admiring the mini art exhibition set up along the way, which was insightful. Being into artificial intelligence stuff, I thought this could hardly be replicated as someone had already thought about all these mind-stimulating paintings.
I clicked some cute photos of a father-son duo with matching outfits and ate some parathas along the way, which were buzzing with customers but so so good.
On my way back home, I noticed a mad guy while running, a couple cycling, an exam-goer student worrying, a handicapped person struggling, a 5-star hotel gatekeeper thinking, an old guy learning, friends eating, a vegetable vendor pulling, a car guy washing - all these people were present in this world doing their part. Things like this keep me grounded and grateful for the life that I get to live.
Came home to a rush of endorphins to make me want to do something big
To sum it up it's the ordinary moments and experiences that make life extraordinary. The unexpected encounters, the random conversations, the small observations, and the mundane activities can all bring a sense of meaning and purpose to our lives. When we allow ourselves to embrace boredom and break free from our usual routines, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and opportunities that can lead us to discover new passions, interests, and perspectives.
We often underestimate the power of these simple moments, but they have the potential to shape and transform our lives in significant ways. They remind us that life is not just about achieving big goals or chasing after extraordinary experiences, but also about finding joy and fulfillment in the everyday moments that make up our lives.
So, the next time you find yourself feeling bored or uninspired, remember that the ordinary things around you can offer a world of possibilities. Take a walk, strike up a conversation with a stranger, try a new hobby, or simply observe the world around you with fresh eyes. You never know what small moment or encounter might lead you down a path towards greater self-discovery and a more meaningful life.
